The year 2014 is undoubtedly the year of sequels! It seems that if a movie had some sort of success, then producers just slap it with a sequel. We hope you enjoy our list of 10 of the most eagerly awaited sequels that are going to hit theaters the summer of 2014. Although there are slim chances of any of these movies making it big at the 2015 Oscars (yes, we like to make 2015 Oscar predictions early on in the year), they’ll most likely be very entertaining. Here are 10 new upcoming movie sequels that you should see this summer!
When: June 27
Another Transformers movie! The storyline goes like this: an automobile mechanic and his daughter make a discovery that brings down the Autobots and Decepticons – and a paranoid government official – on them. It is directed by Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicole Peltz (from Bates Motel) and Stanley Tucci.
When: October 24
If four movies weren’t enough to scare the undies off of you, the Paranormal Activity franchise is giving you a fifth. The plot is unknown at this time, but we can make an educated guess and say that it’s going to have a lot of moving objects around the house and a lot of shaky camera action.
When: April 4
Some early reviews say this movie is really great and it has all the traits that a good Marvel movie should have. It’s going to be about how Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier. Do we feel another cold war coming?
When: June 13
One of the loveliest Disney movies, How to Train Your Dragon has a sequel and it seems pretty awesome. It is set five years later after the first: here’s what the IMDb page has to say about the sequel: it all starts with the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.
When: August 13
The boys are back in town… and by boys, I mean men and by town, I mean on the big screen. The same impressive cast: Stallone, Statham, Li, Bandera, Snipes, Lundgren, Gibson, Ford and Schwarzenegger. What should we expect from it? The same action thriller suspense, explosions and pretty cringe-worthy jokes.
When: April 4
Nymphomaniac: Part Two is even more outrageous than the first, so if you enjoyed the first part, you’ll love the second. When it comes to new upcoming movie sequels, it’s safe to say that is one is the most controversial. Get ready for some action and not the kind you’re used to seeing in The Expendables.
When: August 22
The town’s most hard-boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants that’s what IMDb has to say about this Sin City sequel. To be honest, we don’t really know what to think about this, but we must say that we are pretty excited about Eva Green being the dame worth killing for.
When: May 23
Wolverine is sent to the past to try and prevent humanity from being annihilated. That sounds pretty amazing, doesn’t it? Especially when we have both old and young versions of the same character. Yes, we’ll get some of Patrick Stewart/James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender/Ian McKellen action.
When: June 13
These two dorks went undercover in high school and now they go undercover in college. That pretty much should tell you everything you need to know about how 22 Jump Street is going to pan out. If you’re still curios, go see it and tell us all about it!
When: July 11
Out of all the new upcoming movie sequels, this one looks the most promising. Caesar and his new army of smart apes will come face to face with humans, after a virus wiped out almost all of humanity. It’s dark, it’s dystopian and it’s got talking, angry apes. What more could anyone want from a movie?!
