Benedict Cumberbatch is the man of the moment. He’s the star of the BBC One series Sherlock (set to return with season three in January 2014), he’s played the bad guy in the blockbuster Star Trek Into Darkness, he’s starring in two Oscar worthy movies: 12 Years a Slave and August: Osage County and he played Wiki leaks man Julian Assange in The Fifth Estate. The man has a following on Twitter larger than God’s and for a good reason: he’s a hot alien with a hot voice and amazing acting skills. We’re here to take a look at ten things we love about Benedict Cumberbatch.
10. The Hands
He’s got an artist’s hands, with long, sleek fingers and beautiful, long nails. If you’ve seen at least one of his movies, you must have noticed that he even acts with his hands! Now, imagine those hands… Well, we’re not going to tell you that, we’ll leave it to you to do the imagining.
9. The Sense of Humor
Mr. Cumberbatch is a funny man and fans love that about him. He’s not only witty, but he’s not afraid to make a fool out of himself or be self-deprecating and that is a talent, indeed. It’s enough to see a couple of his interviews and you will see how funny he really is.
8. The Lips
Those lips can make anyone, man or woman, stop in their tracks and take a second look. He’s got a magnificent Cupid’s bow that begs touching. They’re full and almost naughty and there are numerous Tumblr pages dedicated to them. He’s even got a line that contours the upper lip perfectly he got from a medical condition.
7. The Eyes
Piercing eyes, that’s what Benedict Cumberbatch has. Need we say more? Apparently in person, those eyes are even more mesmerizing. They are a combination of blue, gray with a bit of green – they are as intense as eyes get.
6. The Brains
Benedict went to private school and not just any private school, but Harrow where he was an art scholar. He then went on to study drama at the University of Manchester and then, as if that wasn’t enough, he continued his studies at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He loves to cuddle on a sofa with a great book and he’s the picture of eloquence.
5. The Swagger
He’s got it, he’s got the swag! Benedict has a funky taste in clothing and we love that about him. I mean, who else can pull off visible stripped socks with a suit at an event? Or who can work silly hats and make them look cool and funky? Only he can!
4. The Hair
He is known to change his hair with every role he undertakes and that is another thing we love about Benedict Cumberbatch. He’s been a blonde in Parade’s End, had white hair in The Fifth Estate, he was a ginger in War Horse, had black hair in Star Trek Into Darkness and he encouraged his natural curls in Sherlock. What is your favorite Cumberbatch? Curlybatch? Gingerbatch? Or is it Sleekbatch?
3. The Acting Skills
Benedict Cumberbatch is not a conventionally attractive man, there are still many people (we don’t really understand why) who don’t think he’s all that handsome, but there is one thing nobody can deny: the man can act! He’s done it ever since he was a kid and it’s obvious he is a natural. We’re looking forward to many other wonderful roles, Benedict!
2. The Cheekbones
As Irene Adler (played by Lara Pulver) said in the season two episode of Sherlock, A Scandal in Belgravia: Look at cheekbones, I could cut myself slapping that face. Would you like me to try? Those high cheekbones of his are a bit part of his appeal and something his fanbase adores about him.
1. The Voice
He plays Smaug in the Hobbit movies and that voice is enough to send chills down your spine. He’s done a Jaguar commercial where his voice is more than average people can handle without being shaken for days – it was described as sounding like a jaguar in a cello. Well, with a description like that, we won’t comment any further and we will let you hear for yourself right here.
BONUS: He’s very polite and a true gentleman. He really is the perfect man, isn’t he? Or could we be missing something?
