Holograms make their ways not only in latest high-tech hardware, but also start to show up in art contexts. New media artist Calvin Waterman allows the spectator, which has five buttons to push, to interact with the characters displayed as holocubic scenes projected in the corners of the room.
Waterman’s works don’t include canvas or paint. Instead they heavily rely on a MAX/MSP/JITTER platform which runs on an Arduino processor, a laptop and a five-button circuit. The media is comprised of 15 thirty-second animations, inkjet prints aided by a projector and fluorescent light.
