Cruelty-free cosmetics are products of brands that do not involve animal testing. The issue of animal testing is not new, which is why many of us assume that this cruelty stopped since there are laws to protect animals. However, few people know what really lies behind the so familiar products, from the most famous and successful companies in the world.
Organizations such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) correct information related to consuming cosmetics and offer in this respect a public list, available for viewing to anyone interested in cosmetics tested on animals , as well as alternatives to such brands.
PETA keeps track of companies producing cosmetics, buy a licence or a statement from them which says that no ingredient, formulas or finished products are tested on animals.
In other words, consumers rely on the written word of these companies and their PR intelligence in avoiding possible riots or lawsuits. Otherwise, the integrity of the company in question is in doubt, which would harm their image and status in the market.
However, there are many attempts at fraud by labeling products with the inscription No Animal Testing or No Animal Ingredient.
The cause is the lack of specific labeling laws on animal testing and the effect consists of misleading consumers. We further provide a list of ten major companies which are against animal testing:
