Coca-Cola has to be the most popular beverage in the world, after water. It’s been around for a hundred years and we believe it’s going to be around for at least one hundred more. Whether you drink Coke or not, it’s present in your everyday life, through funky Coca-Cola outdoor ads or even empty bottles that you use for something else, such as storage. What you don’t know is that there are plenty of unusual uses for Coca-Cola out there and we’re here to reveal the most popular ten of them. Read on and see how this popular drink manages not only to be tasty, but to help us with our household chores.

10. Eliminate Skunk Stench

There are plenty of home remedies that will help take out skunk stench, and Coca-Cola is one of them. If you’ve been sprayed with the nasty liquid, then we recommend you stand in the shower, pour a couple of cans all over your skin and wait for 5 minutes. Rinse of and wash your skin with soap. The coke will help get rid of the smell.

9. Ease Stomach Pain

Did you know that the original use for Coke was to relieve an upset stomach? It was even prescribed by doctors! If you have indigestion or heartburn, then drink some Coca-Cola (make sure it is flat, as the bubbles will upset the stomach even more) and you will feel much better. Coke also helps with nausea, diarrhea and hiccups.

8. Clean Your Clothes

Why waste your money on expensive grease stain removers, when you can get a can of coke and degrease all the clothes that need it? Here’s how you do it: you empty a can of Coke into your machine, along with detergent and no stain remover. At the end of the cycle you’ll see that the coke really helps. It’s also great for cleaning up blood!

7. Clean Your Toilet

This is one of the most unusual uses for Coca-Cola! If you pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let it sit for a half an hour, the bubbles and some other ingredients in it will help soak the dirt and the limestone. You’ll do less rubbing thanks to it!

6. Defrost Windows

A frosted windshield can take forever to defrost, but not if you use Coke! Poup a can of Coke on the icy area, wait a bit and then you’ll see that the ice gets removed much easier. It’s because of the bubbles and the sugar inside the Coca-Cola.

5. Clean Windows

The ingredient that makes Coke a great widow cleaning liquid is the citric acid. As we mentioned above, pour a can of coke on the window and let it sit. Take a damp cloth and clean the dirt with it, make sure to not leave any sugar behind, as the window will remain sticky and attract even more dirt.

4. Removes Rust

rust

This is one of the most well-known uses for Coca-Cola, it was even featured in a Mythbusters episode. Coke is an excellent rust remover – if you need to de-rust small object, simply soak them in Coke overnight and wash them well in the morning. You’ll see that in some cases, the Coke will do a better job than a commercial rust remover.

3. Keep Bugs Away

If you are out in the sun, at a picnic or at the beach and the insects won’t let you be, then use a can of coke and they won’t bother you anymore. Bugs, and wasps in particular, are attracted to the sugar in the drink and if you pour some coke in a plate, they’ll flock to it. Make sure you pour it in a flat container and not use a can (you can forget about the can and be tempted to drink from it, bugs included).

2. Pain Reliever

If you’ve been stung by a jellyfish then the chemicals inside Coca Cola will help ease the pain.  If you’re not willing to try the handiest way of treating a jellyfish bite (yes, urine), then grab some Coke and pour it on the affected spot. It will work wonders.

1. Have it Explode

Diet coke + Menthos = Love. You’ve heard about this, you’ve seen it and it’s our number one because we love explosions. The explosion works better with Diet Coke because the aspartame in it lowers the surface tension of the liquid. Don’t you just want to try it out right now?
