There are some things we enjoy deeply: like sinking under covers with hot chocolate and a loved one watching an amazing movie together, just having a relaxed evening. And as the movie industry has been advancing at an alarming pace, 3D movies being something ordinary nowadays it is only expectable that the movies that have come out in the past year also have to exceed expectation not only in actor performance but also in special effects and direction. Here are some of 2012’s most interesting movies:
1. Les Miserables
Based on Victor Hugos novel, the 2012 musical begins with Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) being released from prison and creating a new life after breaking parole. The action then unfolds at the center of the French Rebellion while he is trying to look after Cosette, the daughter of a working class girl who became a prostitute to pay her debt. The performance of Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe is breathtaking: this is truly a movie everyone should see.
2. Life of Pi
This is the tale of the boy who on his quest to know God becomes a Buddhist, Muslim, Christian and Jew and whose name explanation takes the viewer into a world of allegory. The story soon unfolds as he is forced to leave India in order to sail with his family over the Atlantic but as the ship sinks he is left on a boat together with an orangutan, a zebra, a hyena and a Bengal tiger. This is a moving story and in the end you are left with the impression that not the story itself is important but the way the story is told.
3. Skyfall
James Bond is back, and he is more dangerous than ever! Dame Judi Dench does an excellent job in the role of James Bond, and he is truly an incredible addition to the 007 classic adventures. The opening of the movie is kick-ass and pure awesomeness!

4. Hotel Tranylvania
This animated comedy movie has won the hearts of millions of fans. It is about the vampire lord, Count Dracula, and his restful hideaway filled with scary creatures and supernatural beings. Although there are a lot of potential beasts in the movie, it is actually appropriate for children because most characters are funny and tame. The story focuses on Dracula and his daughter that will soon come of age.
5. The Avengers
In order to appreciate “The Avengers” movie at its true value you must first take into consideration that this movie was inspired from a comic book. And epic comic books have demigods, superheroes, and top secret agencies ( like SHIELD ) which work for the country. If you haven’t seen Iron Man 1,2, or Thor, you will truly be delighted by this movie because at every scene there is something captivating. Moreover, this is the kind of movie which should be seen in HD quality, which are made available with comcast cable offers.
6. Django Unchained
Quentin Tarantino proves his worth yet again with this story about the pursuit of vengeance as Dr. King Schultz, a former dentist, buys the freedom of a slave. His name is Django and the dentist’s plan is to make him into a bounty hunter. But instead of his plan coming together, they confront Calvin Candie, a plantation owner who was keeping Django’s wife as a slave.
7. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
This much awaited movie describes the adventures of Bilbo Baggins before the action in Lord of The Rings took place: about how he first met Gandalf the Grey, how he sets of as the last member of an expedition and how he faces dwarves, orcs, as he travels to Rivendell and as he saves the life of Thorin (Thor’s grandson).
8. The Hunger Games
In the nation of Panem which has been divided into 12 separate districts games are held yearly where two representatives of each district are randomly selected and the 24 competitors are forced to eliminate each other. So when a 16 year old girl is chosen her older sister Katniss volunteers to take her place and together with Peeta face bigger and trained representatives from other districts.
9. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted
The 4 main characters are still trying to get back to the Central Park zoo but in order to do that they must first find the penguins and they do so by crashing a party. After doing so they have to inconspicuously travel to Europe and they do so by joining the circus. But in their attempt to return to New York they are hampered by Captain Chantel who is hell-bent on making Alex a permanent part of his collection.
10. Ice Age: Continental Drift
As a continental cataclysm is provoked by Scrat, Manny finds himself on an iceberg with Sid, Diego and Granny. As they try to return home, they are captured by a pirate and his crew, but the tables soon turn as Manny plots to steal the ship and return home with it.
