We live in an era where natural food is considered “bio” and therefore more expensive so choosing fast food may seem like a cheaper and safer choice.
However, what people do not understand is the fact that eating healthy is not actually expensive or hard, it is only a matter of choice. If you are looking for ways to lose weight without having to spend money on a gym membership then here are 10 methods.
I will make this clear right from the start, although it may sound a bit harsh: you cannot lose weight if you are not ready to make some compromises and resorting to drastic diets or diet pills and powders is not a healthy choice. These 10 ways to lose weight have the sole purpose of keeping you on the right track without spending any money on gyms or gym equipment.
Ready, set, go!
1. Stay focused
Always have in mind why you actually want to lose weight. Is there a medical condition involved or are you simply not comfortable with your body? Is there someone pushing you to do it? These are all questions that need answers before figuring out if you actually need to lose weight. You should never start something if it is not in your best interest.
2. Set a goal
It is always easier to stick to your promise if you actually have a promise. Same goes with goals. You can choose to have daily, weekly or even monthly goals, depending on how much weight you actually want to lose but always set goals ahead as this will keep you motivated. For example, challenge yourself to lose 10 pounds this month or drink at least 2 liters of water per day this week. Keep in mind that the goals should be achievable and easy, at least at the beginning.
3. Make healthier choices
You would be surprised on how many delicious recipes have healthier versions which are just as or even more delicious. If you start craving something you know is unhealthy, try to find the healthier recipe. Sometimes, you can even save money by cooking at home rather than ordering take-out or eating out.
4. Exercise at home
Even though you do not have to go to the gym, this does not mean that you shouldn’t do any exercise at all. No amount of exercise is too small and even though you are not a sports person you can still become a sport addict if you have the necessary strength and ambition to start exercising. You can find countless of tutorials on youtube which might help you out and you do not have to start with the most difficult workouts. Baby steps. Do as much or as little as you can, but take the first step and start! You will feel much better afterwards.
5. Find support
Any battle is easier to fight when you don’t have to fight it alone. Whether you have your partner, your sister or even a coworker close, it doesn’t matter as long as it is someone who supports you. One of the easiest ways of starting losing weight is to have a weight-loss partner. People tend to be competitive so if you want to see results fast, try finding someone you can share a weight-loss plan with.
6. Always take the stairs
Forget about elevators and moving staircases. Always choose the stairs. Do not always choose the easiest way out, challenge yourself a bit. Something as random as choosing the stairs rather than the elevator might end up having surprising results on the way you look and feel. Plus, stairs are usually not crowded so enjoy the freedom as well.
7. Drink enough water
Everything starts from your water intake: the functionality of your internal organs, the softness of your skin and the beauty of your hair. A hydrated body is a happy body! Drink at least half a gallon of water every day and you will start noticing the difference.
8. Try not to eat at least 4 hours before you go to bed
While you sleep, your body functions slow down so going to bed with a full stomach means that your body will take more time to digest food and will transform it straight into fat. It takes time for your stomach to properly digest all the food it has in it and if you are still awake and alert during the process, all the good stuff that come out of your food will be used for energy, cell nutrition and other body functions, rather than just fat. Taking about 4 hours between dinner and bedtime will give your stomach enough time to digest everything and you will wake up in the morning feeling as good as new.
9. Read labels
Try this little experiment: pick up a can or a box of your favorite something (might be a can of soup or a box of cereal) and read the label. Write down all of the ingredients and search what exactly is your favorite food made of. After this, try putting together a list of all the chemicals and dangerous additives you should avoid when buying food and carefully read the labels of the products you want to buy to make sure they are not slowly killing you.
10. Be proud of what you are doing
No matter how small your results are, be proud of yourself and remain confident! The power of will is one amazing tool you can use in your weight-loss battle and as long as you stay ambitious and believe you can do it, you will eventually be able to achieve all your goals.
