The eternal battle of good versus evil has taken many forms in movies. From vampires and ghosts to ho hobbits and wizards. But today we’re just going to focus on the do-gooders who don’t fight alone and know the value of team work.
1. Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (2004)
The young recrut of BPRD, Hellboy (Ron Perlman) will meet his new team mates: the clairvoyant Abe Sapien (Doug Jones) and the telekinetic Liz (Selma Blair).The key member of the team is Liz, whose abilities are in full bloom and at the same time, frightening and essential.
2. Blade II (2002)
A team of vampires will gather around an angry hero, Blade (Wesley Snipes) to defeat the Reapers, a new and frightening breed of vampires. Among these special “collaborators” is the beautiful Nyssa Damaskinos (Leonor Varela) who catches Blade’s attention.
3. Watchmen (2009)
The superheroes who stand guard are The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley), Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson), Silk Spectre (Malin Akerman) and Ozymandias (Matthew Goode), along with translucent mega-hero Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup). Of all the heroes, Rorschach plays a key role, his investigation of the death of The Comedian being the engine in the story, and this leads to a shocking discovery.
4. Fellowship of the Ring in Lord of the Rings (2001-2003)
The fellowship is made of various species of Middle-earth, among them hobbits, wizards and elves. Their job is to carry the Ring to Mordor, where Frodo (Elijah Wood) will have to throw it into the volcanic lava. Of all fellow travelers, Sam (Sean Astin), his friend and companion, is with Frodo even in the darkest moments.
5. Inglourious Basterds (2009)
The team is a group of Hebrew origin American soldiers, led by Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt). His objective? Each and one of his subordinates owes 100 Nazi scalps. Besides Raine, “the Jewish bear” (Eli Roth) is the psycho of team, always ready to beat Nazis to death with his baseball bat, before reciting some meaningless things sports related.
6. Mutants of X-Men (2000)
The team of Professor X (Patrick Stewart) includes several species of mutants, including Cyclops (James Marsden), Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), Storm (Halle Berry) and cute Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Wolverine is the hero, a lone wolf who will be able to fight until the end. The team’s goal is to sabotage the plans of Magneto and save humanity from a premature end.
7. TMNT – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
Heroes in shell, four anthropomorphic turtles – Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael – have exceptional ninja qualities and, of course, I love pizza. The most important member of the team seems to be Rafael who falls into a coma after a fall, during a fight with the Shredder clan.
8. Rebel Alliance in Star Wars (1977-1983)
The coalition formed to fight the Republic seen as a threat through the eyes of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Fisher Carrez). In the center is Luke, who has great character development, transforming from a simple country boy into a Jedi master, who resists the temptation to join the forces of evil even when he discovers that his father is Darth Vader himself.
9. The Ghostbusters in Ghostbusters (1984)
A team of three parapsychologists, Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) battle ghosts in New York. Yes, there are ghosts in NYC. The most important part of the movie happens on top of the building at number 55 Central Park West, where the three will defeat the evil Gozer, who had just taking the form of an innocent giant jelly.
10. Avengers (2012)
Team S.H.I.E.L.D. is made off Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and, later, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). The most important member of the seam is Tony Stark, the one known as Iron Man. Certainly without him things would not have had the same charm.
