Before each new season, all fashion designers start some sort of a competition in deciding what the rest of us should wear for that particular season. Each time we are presented with various trends, but not all of them capture the eye of the beholder.
An electrifying fall, with a magnetism that turns any simple woman into a fashion-icon. Electrifying shades, fur details, mixed textures, plaid and ’60s – only part of the list of must-haves for our wardrobe this season.
1. A plaid jacket
Long jackets are not just for daytime wear. Thakoon Panichgul showed how fascinating an outfit can be if it consists of a long dress, very elegant completed with a plaid jacket – a clever idea which marks the versatility of such a piece.
2. A colored fur coat
We simply cannot stop thinking about Miuccia Parade’s clothing line for this season. Colored coats were the leitmotif of the collection, as she managed to create frenzy in the fashion world by extravagance. Therefore a fur coat in a shade of red, burgundy, orange or another color can be an electrifying splash of color in your wardrobe. Fake or real, it doesn’t matter, as long as it is colored.
3. Skinny pants
We’re starting to think that skinny pants are here to stay. They have been the hit of fashion for a few years now and designers are still using them in their collections. With Raf Simons and Jil Sander we can observe a cut that follow the leg line. With high heels or platforms, these pants will be the key to success in your wardrobe. Keep in mind that not all women look good in skinny pants, so make sure your body shape is suitable. Otherwise, the effect could become very close to scary.
4. Something inspired by the 60s
The 70s were the inspiration for last season’s fashion trends, but this season designers are challenging us with the 60s. Miuccia Prada has perfectly represented this age of glory in fashion with her autumn-winter collection for 2011-2012, which is still a true landmark in the business.
5. The uni sweater
Giles Deacon, Ricardo Tisci, Givenchy and Jason Wu have taken a fresh look for the cold season. The clean lines of outfits, where subtle details are created, developed the idea of the “Less is more” motto of the season. The sweater in one color can easily be accessorized with skinny pants, short skirts, you name it. It will look amazing every time.
6. Something red
Red is the star color of this season. Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Prada have explored the sensuality of this color, creating super hot outfits. If you think that a short red dress is too much, go for silk blouses or short skirts. Mix them with simple colors, so that the red is the one which is the statement piece of your outfit.
7. So many prints
Another fashion trend for this fall that deserves our attention are prints. Besides seeing plaid on the catwalk, we were also presented with geometric prints, stripes which remain on top, the abstract, as a palpable nebula, the animal print or military, camouflage chic worthy of a cadet, and unexpectedly romantic ones: hearts.
8. Over the knee boots
Over the knee boots from soft leather with thick heels are another must have for the fall of 2013. Wear them with minimalist dresses, short but with long sleeves, seasoned with a nice fur vest.
9. Flounce
The victory of the flounce can still be felt in this season. Who said so far that the clothes with peplum are a fleeting trend will now realize, once and for all, that they are here to stay. In addition, the peplum is that feminine accent with miraculous properties that transforms any look into a stylish one. Moschino, Christian Dior, Vera Wang… here is where you will find peplum at its best.
10. Oversized items
Oversized items are those that have claimed the catwalk this season. They can be found especially in coats, particularly the pink ones, but also jackets, blazers or even ultra feminine items such as skirts. Another oversized detail which attracted attention in many collections are the XXL buttons.
