This Aurora Photo is Insane!
This photo was captured by Ole Christian Salomonsen in Norway, using a Canon 5D Mark II with Canon EF 16-35 Mark II lens and settings at f/2.8, ISO2500, 7sec. It is a long exposure photo, that’s why you can see some satellites streaks and one made by a plane. The aurora lets you see the background full of stars, because it is colorful but a little bit transparent. Awesome.
Portable 1.25 KJ Coilgun
It’s a gun that fires a projectile with magnetic force instead of gunpowder. The projectile from this gun won’t kill a person, but the electrical energy stored in the capacitors is 78 times the lethal amount for human beings so this is no toy.
Smallest Stop Motion Animation
Professor Fletcher’s invention of the CellScope, which is a Nokia device with a microscope attachment, was the inspiration for a teeny-tiny film created by Sumo Science at Aardman. It stars a 9mm girl called Dot as she struggles through a microscopic world. All the minuscule detail was shot using CellScope technology and a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics.
Ruler 2: Nice Ruler for iPhone and iPad
The iPhone can become a pretty decent measuring thinger, with a little app for just 0.99$. This app is Ruler 2, and it is also compatible with the iPad (well, it’s hard to believe that you’ll use your iPad as a ruler, but just in case..)
