The moment Sony released its PlayStation console, who would have guessed that the gaming industry would be so drastically changed? Years have passed, but with each new release, the PlayStation continues to innovate games through unique gameplay experience additions and stellar graphics. Take a seat and join us in our quest to unveil the Top 10 Games of All Time On PlayStation, all according to the number of sold copies in the US.

An action RPG that combines the original characters of the series with beloved additions from popular Disney and Final Fantasy characters, Kingdom Hearts established itself as one of the most beloved video game series of all time. The name of the protagonist, Sora, sounds familiar even outside of the Kingdom Hearts series. As of 2013, it had sold approximately 23 million copies worldwide.
#9 Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty – 7 million (PS2)

Metal Gear Solid might just be the best product of the much acclaimed Hideo Kojima. Since its release, the series spawned several sequels, and it managed to establish itself as one of the greatest video game franchises of all time. Its high MetaCritic score ranked it among the top five most acclaimed games on the PS2.
#8 The Last of Us – 7.5 million (PS3)

It may be the only PS3 entry on this list, but it’s thoroughly worthy of this achievement. In a time when apocalyptic undead games were at the peak of their popularity, The Last of Us managed to distance itself by tackling down profound themes and by telling a story convoluted with a human condition thematic.
#7 Crash Bandicoot: Warped – 7.7 million (PS1)

Following the events of its preceding installment, Crash Bandicoot: Warped was a real hit both among critics and audiences, who praised the game for its graphics, gameplay, and audio. It broke records in many countries, though the most notable achievement is becoming the highest-selling non-Japanese PlayStation game in Japan.
#6 Tomb Raider II – 8 million (PS1)

The character of Lara Croft went through a lot of changes since her initial development. She went from being a square-headed pixelated protagonist to starring in a movie while portrayed by no other than Angelina Jolie. Tomb Raider II is the best-selling installment of this constantly reinventing franchise, having been one of the top five highest-selling games as of 2003.
#5 Tekken 3 – 8.5 million (PS1)

Those who lived to see the times when Tekken’s popularity was at its peak probably remember the craze that surrounded everyone who wished to bag in a victory in these intense battle tournaments. Tekken has spawned a multitude of sequels, as well as other forms of media, including a movie. Initially released on arcades, Tekken 3 was later brought to the PlayStation and it propelled its way to the top of the best-selling PS games of all time.
#4 Resident Evil – 9 million (PS1)

Influenced by previous Capcom releases of the likes of Sweet Home and Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil is one of the biggest names in the survival horror game genre and in the gaming industry altogether. It slashed its way to the top of the sales list through its innovative and uniquely gruesome and intelligent gameplay style and it continues to spawn installments today.
#3 Final Fantasy VII – 10 million (PS1)

Speaking of resonating names, Final Fantasy pretty much made the JRPG genre what it is today. Nothing was the same after the release of the turn-based system implemented by the seventh installment of the series. Final Fantasy VII was widely acclaimed, and it’s considered one of the best games of all time, all curtsy to its fascinating gameplay experience, the emotional story, and the twists that we’re still trying to recover from.
#2 Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec – 14.89 million (PS2)

Is it surprising to see a racing game among the top entries on this list? It shouldn’t be, given that all it takes for confirmation is one look at its MetaCritic score to understand why. The third installment in this bestseller franchise completely smashed sales records and lives up today as one of the highest-selling video games of all time and the third best-selling racing game.
#1 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – 27.5 million (PS2)

“Where’s GTA on this list?” Here it is. It’s no surprise that one of the console’s most controversial games would also be one of its bestselling. Grand Theft Auto has always attracted a healthy mix of criticism and praise, but you can’t deny its charm. There is something absolutely enthralling about the adrenalin released by the freedom provided by the gameplay. It’s completely twisted and full of all things your mother wouldn’t want to see you doing, but this is what makes it so great.
