Whenever a new movie starring Johnny Depp is announced the world goes crazy. That’s because you everyone knows a Johnny Depp movie means it’s a good movie: funny, full of action and a little weird. Johnny Depp appeared in many Tim Burton films, which are also some of his best performances. We want to remind you 10 great Johnny Depp movies everyone should watch or re-watch in 2014. Our list is comprised of some of his most successful movies, but also some of his lesser known ones, which you should definitely watch if you are a Johnny Depp true fan.

10. Edward Scissorhands

This is the movie that launched Johnny Depp’s career. It was the first Tim Burton movie in which he starred, released in 1990. Johnny showed his acting abilities succeeding in making Edward a fragile, weird and lovely character. Edward Scissorhands is still one of the most iconic movies of the 1990s, all thanks to the incredible Johnny Depp. How long has it been since you last seen Edward Scissorhands?

9. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape

Another great movie from the 1990s and a very special one on our Johnny Depp movies list is What’s Eating Gilbert Grape released in 1993 in which he starred along the great Leonardo DiCaprio. It’s a deep family drama about friendship and sibling love. Johnny played the character of Leonardo’s older brother. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the role of a mentally handicapped person who is very attached to his brother.

It was based on Hunter S. Thompson novel of the same name published in 1971. You need to be prepared in order to see this movie.

Many of us have wanted to see Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie star together in a movie. Our wishes came true with the 2010 romantic thriller The Tourist. The movie has some common elements with spy movies like James Bond. Although it’s not one of the new Johnny Depp movies, it’s definitely worth watching if you’re into action spy thrillers.

5. Lone Ranger

Although it was a commercial fail, Lone Ranger was an amazing cowboy movie. It is a new Johnny Depp movie released in 2013 in which you will see him play the role of Toto, the Lone Ranger’s Native American sidekick. The movie is a great modern western full of amazing special effects and edge-of—your-seat action. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely watch it as soon as possible.
